MANSFIELD, PA— Kenneth Sarch, professor of Violin and Viola and conductor of the String Chamber Orchestra at Mansfield University, has
accepted invitations to conduct, present and perform at three national and international events in the coming months.
Sarch is currently in Panama, serving guest conductor of the Panama National Youth Orchestra Music Camp. This marks the ninth visit by Sarch as conductor of the Panamanian Summer Music Festival. January is summertime in Panama.
Sarch was first invited in Panama by the U.S. State Department Arts America Program in the early years of the youth orchestra festival. In 2010, he was invited to serve as guest conductor to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the festival.
During this visit, Sarch will conduct the Dvorak New World Symphony, the Verdi Nabucco Overture, Bernstein’s music from West Side Story and a novelty piece entitled Concerto for Three Kazoos and Orchestra.
On March 10, Sarch was
invited to perform Por Una Cabeza as violin soloist with the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra on a program titled “Let’s Tango”. The orchestra invited Sarch to perform as a tribute for his 14 years as concertmaster of the Williamsport Symphony.
Sarch has also been invited by the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) to present a clinic entitled “Bow Strokes A to Z – How To Play and Teach Them!” as part of the ASTA National Conference in Atlanta, GA on March 24.
Sarch is co-author of the ASTA Dictionary of Bowing and Pizzicato Terms. His presentation was chosen from over 300 proposals submitted.
Five MU string students will attend the Conference in Atlanta with Sarch as part of a Mansfield University Student Chapter of ASTA project.
