MANSFIELD, PA— The Mansfieldians, Mansfield University’s select ensemble of 12 singers that specializes in vocal jazz, have been invited to perform at the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) 2013 National Conference, to be held in Dallas, TX next March.
Sheryl Monkelien, director of Vocal Jazz at MU, says The Mansfieldians were selected from over 250 ensembles that applied for a coveted performance spot at the national conference.
“We will be performing at the historic Majestic Theatre as part of ‘Jazz Night,’” she said. “We are very humbled and excited to be invited to this prestigious event.”
The invitation from the ACDA states, “Your choir is among a select group that promises to make our time together in Dallas an inspirational and meaningful celebration of our theme, Choral Art: Advocate, Remember, Teach. On behalf of the Dallas Conference Steering Committee, I offer warm congratulations on your selection to perform: you are among our very best.”
