MANSFIELD, PA-- Alumni, family and friends returned to Mansfield University to celebrate Homecoming 2012 on October 12-14. This year’s theme was “Red & Black Superheroes.”
Lou-Willa Dupree was named Homecoming Queen and Joshua Pollitt was named Homecoming King. The royal couple was crowned by MU Interim President Allan Golden during halftime ceremonies of the Mountaineers football game against Post University on Saturday.
Dupree is a senior from Philadelphia, PA. She represented the Black Students Union in the campus-wide voting. Dupree was escorted by Dontae Williams.
Pollitt is senior from Hazelton, PA. He represented the Student Government Association. Pollitt was escorted by Makayla Smith.
Earlier in the day, the annual Homecoming parade made its way up Main Street to the delight of a big crowd lining both sides of the street.
Friday night, the MU Alumni Athletic Hall of Fame welcomed four new members during inductions ceremonies at Manser Hall.
Michael Collier ’82 (baseball), Lynelle Mosley ’04 (basketball), Jessica Ricker Czako ’03 (softball) and John Soprano ’68 (football) were enshrined. The new Hall of Famers were also honored during the Homecoming parade and before the football game.
The weekend also included a golf tournament, a pep rally with a bonfire and fireworks, a pre-game alumni tent party, concerts and many other activities.
