| MANSFIELD, PA (11/27/07) - Thirty-eight students were honored at the Mansfield University Mountaineer Leadership Program (MLP) recognition celebration for the fall semester on Tuesday, November 27. The MLP, now in its third year, is designed to give students three tiers of leadership learning: Bronze, which focuses on personal leadership; Silver, which concentrates on leadership within teams and groups; and Gold, which develops change leadership. As students complete a level, they move to the next. Each level requires students to complete six interactive workshops and a corresponding essay for each workshop. Workshops are facilitated by volunteers, including administration, staff, faculty and students. In congratulating the recipients, MU President Maravene Loeschke said, “I have never been at a university, or even known of one, that has this kind of a program and I think we’re all so fortunate here at Mansfield to have this program. I’m very proud of it and I’m deeply respectful of all of you who have committed to it.” Students who completed the Gold level this fall are: Jeremy Bean, Tessa Bieber, Cara Stroup and Kim Zechman. Students who completed the Silver level are: Heather Brelo, Jodi Breon, Lori Dotterer, Erica Fischer, Antoine Johnson, Hiwot Ketema, Erica Martin, Bohpa Ouk and Katelyn Plaska. Students who completed the Bronze level are: Stacy Allesch, Kari Allison, Sarah Anderson, Meredith Bennett, Kristin Broughton, Kacie Bush, Shannon Colligan, Amber Ellixson, Julisa Epps, Carolyn Fyock, Emily Gorman, Jennifer Howell, Lyndie Hughes, Jequaii Jones, Rachel Ketchum, Ashley Krause, Christina Learned, Christopher Lewis, Tara McAlinn, Ralph McIntyre, Ann McPherson, Crystal Powell, Ashley Remenyi, Sarah Tinney and Kelly Ann Vaccaro. The MLP is managed through the Career Development Center. The program is free for the students, thanks to support from the Mansfield University Foundation, which allocated seed money for the program.
