Karen Guenther, History, was elected to the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania German Society at their annual meeting in June 2009. She serves as Chair of the Publicity Committee and a member of the Publications Committee for the organization. Guenther continues to serve as business secretary for the Pennsylvania Historical Association, which is headquartered at MU.
Prema Junius, Mathematics, and Nancy Sidell, Social Work, had their article "Dispelling Fear and Loathing: Engaging Mathematically-Challenged Students to Learn Statistics” published in the Journal of Baccalaureate Social Work, Volume 14, number 2 (Summer 2009).
Gary McIntyre, Communication & Theatre, has been re-elected as national newsletter editor for the Broadcast Education Association History Division. McIntyre also discussed mass communication education as a guest on a WJTN radio Chautauqua Institution July broadcast in western New York.
Kathryn Sue Young, Communication, and, Howard P. Travis, professor emeritus, were quoted extensively in an article entitled "What you need to know about behavioral interviewing" written by Heather Huhman at examiner.com on June 25.
